Nedbank is recruiting for a Quantitative Analyst within its Business and Commercial Banking cluster, based in Sandton, Johannesburg. This hybrid role is designed for professionals who are passionate about risk management, data analysis, and model development. The successful candidate will contribute to the creation and maintenance of best practice models and assessment strategies aligned with regulatory standards, supporting world-class risk management. The role involves close collaboration with stakeholders, analytical research, and process optimization to drive business value and strategic alignment. Candidates will also participate in corporate responsibility initiatives and transformation goals, while continuously developing their professional capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Seek opportunities to improve business processes, models and systems by identifying and recommending effective ways to operate and add value to Nedbank
  • Contribute to the development of differentiated, superior solutions that meet stakeholder and business requirements through analysis
  • Ensure product and solution design aligns with business specifications by meeting stakeholder requirements timeously
  • Engage and assist business through face-to-face interaction and attendance at forums and committees to ensure business needs are met
  • Extract and analyse data to address business queries and perform ad hoc analysis and data requests
  • Document and record processes and models to ensure continuity and knowledge base
  • Deliver analytical results and make recommendations to stakeholders through research, systems and marketing insights
  • Ensure compliance to policy through data analysis and monitoring
  • Create efficiencies and streamline processes through analysis

Qualifications

  • Matric or Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate
  • Advanced Diplomas or National First Degrees
  • Three-year qualification in a mathematical-related BSc, Engineering, CFA, FRM or CQF
  • One to three years relevant experience in an analytical environment
  • Understanding of Basel Capital and IFRS 9 Impairments
  • Experience in reporting and modelling
  • Business acumen
  • Understanding of industry trends
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of project management principles
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks
  • Understanding of risk management processes and frameworks
  • Strong business writing skills
  • Quantitative analysis skills
  • Knowledge of relevant software and systems
